Contemporary painter & visual storyteller based in Lafayette, CO.

An electrical engineer by day, Nicolai initially pursued painting as a hobby and a respite from the demands of his profession, yet it soon evolved into a profound and unrelenting passion. Embracing the canvas as his primary medium of expression, Nicolai has since cultivated his artistic practice with great fervor.

Nicolai's work reflects his multifaceted interests and rich experiences. From serene landscapes and intricate still life compositions to expressive portraits and whimsical imagery, he aims to capture the essence of both the visible and the imaginary. Music has always played a significant role in his life, and his love for singing and playing the guitar often informs his creative process, infusing his paintings with rhythm and emotion. Through his art, Nicolai seeks to evoke a sense of wonder and invites viewers to explore the world through a lens of curiosity and joy.

Originally from Moscow, Russia, Nicolai now resides in Lafayette, Colorado.
